We were very pleased to work with the Canadian Coast Guard to re-develop their Search and Rescue Contacts web application – SAR Contacts.
The SAR Contacts website is used world-wide to help rescue coordination personnel contact the right people based on the location. The database contains search and rescue contacts from around the world, and contacts for each country. Searches are typically done by specifying latitude and longitude. Using the Google Maps API a map of search and rescue regions (SRRs) is overlaid, and markers are placed for all SAR Contacts. As well a list of all SAR Contacts is provided below the map.
You can view the SAR Contacts website here – http://sarcontacts.info .
SARContacts.info was developed using the WordPress Genesis framework, the Google Mashup plugin by Dylan Kuhn, and the Google Maps API v3. SARContacts.info is hosted by WP Engine.
